Āgamā

Knowledge building towards employability & self-sufficiency

Context

With 26 percentage of India’s population aged 10-24, India’s youth bulge demands jobs, enterprises or both. Employment and entrepreneurship, in turn, ride on appropriate skills and education. Labour rich India cannot afford to lose this opportunity.

Rural children and young adults today find themselves at crossroads. They are bombarded by messages from the modern world, but are not mentored or equipped with the skills to participate in that world. This results in a chasm between their expectations and their capacity to fulfil those expectations. Neither do parents have the knowledge nor do institutions or mentors exist, to address this vacuum in their lived reality, leaving them vulnerable to influence by TV, films and Social-Media leading to poor long-term social  outcomes.

ĀGAMĀ is the bridge that aims to transform rural children and youth into responsible, self-aware adults who participate in the economic and cultural life of their communities.
